THE AREA
Casa Mauletta invites you to relax and unwind, either by the pool, on the terrace, or in a cozy corner somewhere in the garden. But if you are more into experiences and culture, there are countless options both in the immediate area and a little further afield.
THE NEARBY AREA
The nearby area offers, for example, both small and large hikes, bathing in hot thermal baths or cold natural pools, MTB tours, truffle tours, horseback riding, cooking classes, wine tastings at small cozy wineries as well as cultural experiences in small and slightly larger medieval towns.

LAKE TRASIMENO
Lake Trasimeno is the water in/near Umbria, as the region is located in the middle of the country and therefore has no coast. It is possible to swim in the lake at selected places if you want to swim in something other than the pool. You can also experience the very cozy town of Castiglioni del Lago, or sail by boat to Isola Magiore, which is a small cozy island in the lake, with a few restaurants and the possibility of a short hike around the island. By car, Lake Trasimeno can be reached in about 40 minutes.

There is almost nothing better than experiencing Umbria on a Vespa. These can be rented near Lake Trasimeno.

PERUGIA
Perugia is the "capital" of Umbria. It is a smaller city with about 160,000 inhabitants, and can be reached by car in less than an hour. The city offers fine shopping opportunities, as well as a wealth of cultural experiences.

CORTONA
If you turn your nose more towards Tuscany, the city of Cortona can be reached in about 50 minutes. and is definitely recommended. A super cozy and atmospheric city with a focus on art and crafts, and with plenty of opportunities for a good bite to eat.

ASSISI
If you are into culture, a visit to Assisi might be the right thing - here is Francis of Assisi - the founder of the Franciscan order, buried in the Basilica di San Francesco. Both the city and the church are definitely worth a visit. Assisi can be reached in about 1 hour.

A LITTLE LONGER AWAY
MARBLE WATERFALLS
If you fancy a slightly longer trip further south, the Marble Waterfalls in southern Umbria are definitely worth a visit. They are a good hour away. On the way to, or from, the Marble Waterfalls, it would be obvious to stop by Orvieto – one of the slightly larger medieval towns in Umbria. The city is founded on top of a pedestal of red volcanic rocks, and under the city there are hundreds of caves and kilometres of passages made by the Etruscans.

MONTALCINO / MONTEPULCIANO
If you are interested in wine, the hometown of Brunello, Montalcino, is a good hour's drive away. Along the way, you can visit Montepulciano, which is known for its quality in both leather and handicrafts – just as there is also a focus on wine here.
At the end of November and until Christmas, Montepulciano also offers an impressive Christmas market, which is visited by both Italian and foreign tourists in droves every year. Montepulciano can be reach in about 45 min.
FLORENCE
Florence can be reached in 1.5 hours by car or train, and is definitely a good destination for a day trip if you have not been there before. A beautiful and romantic city with lots of shopping opportunities, fantastic architecture, and cultural experiences.

ROME
Last but not least – all roads lead to Rome.... and Rome can also be reached both by car and by train in about 1.5 hours.
Rome is difficult to see in one day, but you can get a taste of it if you don't take a few days to experience Italy's beautiful capital before or after a visit to Casa Mauletta.
