OUR WINE
The interest in wine has been there for many years. We both enjoy a good glass of white or red wine, and during our numerous summer vacations in Italy, we have visited many wineries where we have tasted delightful wines. So, as part of the dream of an adventure in Italy, there was also a dream of being able to make our own wine at Casa Mauletta.
Therefore, in our search for the perfect house, we also placed great emphasis on the fact that there should also be some vines. So, that when we do not have guests, we can spend the time producing our very own "Vino della Casa".
However, winemaking is not a simple process, and neither of us has the slightest experience in making wine. That's why it was important for us from the beginning to gather both theoretical and practical knowledge before attempting to make something worthwhile out of our 240 vines.
When we had the keys to our house back in September 2020, the vines were in rather poor condition, and for that reason we could not immediately start the adventure as an Italian wine producer. In 2021, due to the corona pandemic, we did not have the opportunity to look after the vines to the right extent, so we had to wait until 2022 before we had the opportunity to make our own wine for the very first time. ​
Fortunately, we had Marcello, our gardener, with us as guru and teacher, and we have followed his instructions to the letter. The result of our first year as winemakers is drinkable - without the wine getting anywhere near 100 points from Robert Parker. ​
We are happy to offer our guests a glass of our Vino della Casa 2022, and look forward to refining our skills as winemakers in the coming years.
